Choose hope, not fear!…

My name is Cheri Lewis. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July, 2012. I created this blog for my friends and family to follow me on my journey. I will keep you updated on every bump in the road.  Share with you all the good and bad, express how I am feeling throughout my fight. I have discovered a great deal about myself, and I am amazed how so much good can come from such scary life changing experience.
I choose hope not fear!

Great job Cher, I’m sure sharing your experience will not only help you cope, but may very well encourage others to make earlier decisions if they carry the cancer genes. I love you and am so proud of you.

Hey girl…you are truly one of the strongest women I know. .. you have shocked me to no end on this journey and how you’ve managed to keep smiling and staying strong. I don’t quite remember how things were before you, and I can’t even imagine how they would be without you. You are so lovely, inside and out, and I am so lucky and proud to be able to say you have and always will be one of my true best friends. You and your friendship are so special to me words can’t express how much I love you…xo

Hi Cheri! My name is Debbie and I am 37. I was diagnoised with breast cancer a few weeks ago. Things are really scary now since I do not know yet what stage I am or if it spread. I am scheduled for my sential node mapping on thursday. My surgeon said I can change it to have my mastectomy if I want. I was told I could have surgery or chemo first. Not sure what to do yet. I am so glad I found your blog. You are so amazing! I love your positive attitude. I did not read all of your blog yet but I look forward to reading it. You have given me so much hope! Thank you

      Hello Amanda,
You can do this! The “what if” thoughts that consume your mind before you start chemo are exhausting. Don’t let them get to you! My first chemo treatment surprised me. It was a breeze! All I felt was a little nasal congestion. I even went for a&w after… Lol
      You are stronger than this!
If you feel nausea, the doctors have drugs to help with that. Don’t be afraid, everything passes, and you WILL feel better. Just remember when some of the side effects kick in, that means the chemo is working!
God gives us only what we can handle. Apparently god thinks we are bad ass!
Chose hope not fear my warrior friend.
      fight like a girl!
Please feel free to contact me at any, yes ANY time! I will send you my email address. It helps to talk to someone going through the same thing:)
      Love you!

Hi Cheri! Just found your blog this week. Thank you so much for sharing everything here and being so honest! I loved reading it!
I am exactly one week s/p B Mastectomy (L cancer, R prophylactic). Feeling great physically and walking 4-6 miles daily since day 3 (can’t wait to get the drains out soon though). Wish I could go for a run! Chemo starts soon, then radiation. Worried about chemo and the what ifs. I am 45, super fit/athletic, and so antsy to do more before chemo knocks me down and takes that part of my life away for a while. Tomorrow I will hike at 10,000′ elevation, drains and all. Your words and posts have inspired me and given me even more hope!!
I hope you are doing well! xo
